Track and Field Season

As the snow (eventually) melts away and (hopefully) quits falling, as mud covers our vehicles and potholes surface in abundance, we become aware that yes, another busy Track and Field season is upon us. Schedules are tight (as always) as Divisions race up on us only 3 weeks away and then Districts the week after that. Practices run after school every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday until the season is done. Full schedules have been posted on the Sports Calendar. Get a jump on the competition and start today! Come out and give an event or two a shot. We always welcome new competitors.

Fall Teams and Coaches

This year is off to a busy start with five sporting teams beginning practises. We look forward to great participation and effort from our teams and appreciate the time and effort spent by our coaches who inlude staff, students and parents. Teams and coaches include:

Division Track

Track continues this week with 10 competitors moving on to District level. Hurdles and 3000m take place in Meadow Lake late Wednesday afternoon and the remaining events to take place on Thursday. We wish all of our athletes good luck in their events this week.

Senior Badminton

The Senior Badminton team is just finishing up a very successful season. On March 27th the team competed in the Meadow Lake tournament with Jordan S. winning Gold in Boys' Singles and Clayton S. and Doug B. taking home the silver in Boys' Doubles. The next tournament was in Maidstone on April 16th and Jordan captured the Bronze. Division playoffs were held in Meadow Lake on April 21st. Clayton and Doug and Karlee D. and Stacy C. won Gold in Boys' Doubles and Mixed Doubles respectively, while Jordan captured the Silver in Singles. These three teams qualified for Districts but unfortunately Karlee and Stacy could not attend due to a work commitment. At Districts on April 24th Clayton and Doug won the Bronze while Jordan took home the Silver advancing to Regionals in Wilkie on May 1st. At Wilkie, Jordan captured the Silver in the Regionals meaning he advances to Provincials on May 8th also in Wilkie. Congratulations and thank you to Jordan and all players for such a great season.

Junior Badminton

This year at PCS, we had an amazing Junior Badminton season. We participated in a total of six tournaments from Meadow Lake to Cold Lake to playoffs in Lloydminster. PCS consistently won medals in every tournament. Three silvers went to Austin H. and Andrew A., Briar G. and Austen D. and Jordan N. at the beginning of the season in Meadow Lake. Golds were earned in Boys' singles and Mixed Doubles (Austen D. and Briar G.) in Cold Lake. At Districts, Jordan N. brought home bronze in Boys' singles.
Thank you to all those that came out and participated in Junior Badminton this year. Your hard work and dedication showed in one of the best seasons of Junior Badminton we have had in years. Hope to see you next season!

Sr. Girls Volleyball

This year's volleyball season has been a very exciting and successful time for the senior girls of Pierceland Central School. They started off the season by going to many tournaments, which were located all around northern Saskatchewan. The senior girls held their own tournament on October 3^rd and captured the silver medal. Division playoffs were also held in Pierceland on November 7^th. The senior girls placed 1^st in their pool advancing to the playoffs and competed against Edam to play in the finals. They defeated Edam and played Goodsoil to determine 1^st and 2^nd. Receiving 2^nd overall in divisions the team advanced to Regionals along with Goodsoil. Regionals were held in Goodsoil on November 14^th. Placing 2^nd in their pool at Regionals they advanced to playoffs and played Hafford. Defeating Hafford they played the finals against Saskatoon C.C.A and got 2^nd and advanced to Provincials. Pierceland was one of the ten teams out ninety to advance to provincials. The senior girls played very well both days and got 4^th in their pool. Even though they were not able to advance to the playoffs they should be very proud to have gotten the opportunity to participate in such an event.
